You’ve probably heard that some doctors recommend taking a daily aspirin to lower risks of heart attacks. Well now a new study says taking a low-dose aspirin could lower the risk for pancreatic cancer
The study conducted by researchers at the Yale School of Public Health in New Haven, CT, suggests the longer a person takes low-dose aspirin, or 75-325 mg of aspirin a day, the lower his or her risk for pancreatic cancer.
The research published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research, was conducted over 4 years between 2005 and 2009 and studied 362 cancer cases and 690 control subjects. 96% of those were low-dose aspirin users.
According to the National Cancer Institute, in 2014, there will be an estimated 46,420 new cases of pancreatic cancer in the US and an estimated 39,590 deaths from the disease.
